Help the Surfrider Foundation’s Emerald Coast Chapter raise funds to continue their water quality testing to ensure that it is safe for residents and tourists to enter. After receiving multiple reports from swimmers and surfers experiencing nausea, and eye irritation after entering the water, the Foundation has concluded that water quality testing in the area affected by the spill should be maintained for a minimum of five years, as researchers estimate that 75% of the total oil spilled from the Deepwater Horizon remains in the Gulf mixed with undetermined amounts of toxic dispersants. The Emerald Coast Chapter’s goal is to make these water quality test results available to both state and federal authorities, and the public, so they are aware of any potential health risks.
